Is Your Home Theater Ready for a Technology Upgrade?

Why It’s Time To Rethink Your Movie-Watching Experience

Is your current home theater setup falling flat? Do your movies lag, or does the audio sound muddled? Is visible equipment clutter jarring with your decor? What made for a great experience when you first moved in could be due for a makeover. Sometimes, older equipment can’t handle newer media formats. In other cases, outdated models stand out like a sore thumb.

Whatever the reason, your home theater doesn’t feel right, you shouldn’t settle for okay. You deserve the best home entertainment available. We’re here to guide you through the biggest reasons our clients upgrade their systems and showcase the solutions needed to deliver an exceptional viewing experience.

1. You’re Not Getting the Best Image Quality

Display technology progresses more quickly than any other in your home theater. Older projectors and early-generation 4K screens can’t handle the latest resolutions, high-brightness outputs, and deep contrast needed to highlight today’s content. How does this usually present in your theater? Dark scenes all blur together into a muddy gray with no details to make out what’s happening. Or the screen washes out, and all you see is your own reflection when trying to watch in the middle of the day.

We recommend upgrading to high-lumen laser projectors or micro-LED displays. They both allow for vivid, true-to-life colors even in ambient light. We also recommend upgrading to AV receivers with dynamic HDR tone mapping that optimize frame-by-frame rather than using fixed presets that only work on certain types of content.

2. Your Audio Sounds Flat and Muddled

Traditional 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound layouts restrict sound to independent channels. They give a little more depth than a TV speaker, but they still feel rigid. As new content gets mixed in spatial audio formats, you’re missing out on the three-dimensional sound experience. You need to upgrade your speaker layout and AV receivers to support object-based audio formats. The latest models also include calibration software to help us better prep the equipment for the room’s dimensions and any harsh reflection points.

3. Your Equipment is Ruining Your Interior Decor

When home theaters first hit the mainstream, they required massive floor-standing speakers and displays. But as technology improves, it’s not only in performance. It’s in aesthetics as well. There is no reason to settle for any big black boxes taking you away from your movie or show.

First, we recommend replacing any floor-standing or wall-mounted speakers with in-wall and in-ceiling models that mount flush and disappear from view. Use specialized mounts to make screens and projectors disappear into ceiling niches or furniture when not in use. And with a professional installation, wires stay hidden behind drywall, and components like media servers and routers are stored in centralized racks.

4. Your Theater Is Too Hard To Use

Are you still juggling with a drawer full of remotes to get your theater ready for movie night? Do you have to get up to turn off the lights? Do you forget which input is the right one for the Blu-ray player every time? We put all your theater technology into one unified platform from Savant or Josh.ai. Control everything through dedicated touch panels or voice control. We also incorporate dedicated scenes to immediately pull up your go-to settings for watching movies or the latest football game.
